Lingo7 is a language-learning service operated by SEYU LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“Lingo7”, “we”, “us”). These Terms govern your use of the website at lingo7.net and of the Lingo7 mobile application (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly allow them to create accounts.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information in your account and for keeping your login credentials confidential. Tell us at support@lingo7.net if you believe someone else has used your account. You may close your account at any time; see section 12.
Parts of the Service require a paid subscription. Where you subscribe through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the purchase is made with that store, billing is handled by it, and its terms apply alongside these.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the Service for your own language learning. This right lasts as long as you comply with these Terms.
The Service lets you add your own texts. They remain yours. You give us only the permission we need in order to provide the Service to you: to store the file, break it into sentences, generate a parallel translation and audio, and show it back to you. We do not publish your uploads and do not make them available to other users.
You confirm that you hold the necessary rights to each file you upload. You are responsible for that; we do not check the copyright status of uploaded files. If a rightsholder objects, write to support@lingo7.net and we will act on a well-founded complaint.
The Service itself — its software, design, interface texts, our own articles and the translations and audio we produce — belongs to us or is used by us under licence. Works in the library are either in the public domain or used with permission of the rightsholder, and are offered for personal study.
Translations, audio, word cards and the discussion of what you have read are produced automatically, in part by language models. They can be wrong, incomplete or unidiomatic. Treat them as a study aid, not as an authority, and do not rely on them as professional advice of any kind.
We aim to keep the Service running, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change, suspend or withdraw features, and we may stop offering the Service. If we withdraw a paid feature or stop the Service altogether, we will give reasonable notice, and any refund will be handled in accordance with the policy of the store you subscribed through and with applicable law.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise any particular learning outcome.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose and US$100.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing limits the rights that consumer-protection law gives you where you live. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusions above; there, they apply only as far as the law permits.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time, in the app settings or by writing to support@lingo7.net. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms; where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right. When the agreement ends, the right granted in section 5 ends with it; sections 8, 11 and 14 survive.
We may update these Terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new version. The current version always lives at lingo7.net/terms.html.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be settled between us will be brought before the state or federal courts located in Florida, and we both agree to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory rules of the law of your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings there where that law allows it.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about the Service. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours to a successor of the business, on notice to you.
